All girls interested in playing lacrosse this spring: Faith Coaches are holding a free clinic this Saturday, 10/8, from 1 - 3 pm on the soccer field. Goggles and sticks will be provided for those that don't have them so go out and give lacrosse a try. (10/7)
Do you like to play Kahoot? Kahoot Club is a new club in Portable 65 every other Friday at lunch. The first meeting is October 7th. (10/6)

Enter the 4th Annual PUMPKIN SCULPTING CONTEST at Faith Lutheran. Any high school student can enter. Your pumpkin design must have some area that has been sculpted and other rules must be followed. Pick up a flyer from Art Rooms 104 or 101. DEADLINE for High School entries is Tuesday, October 25th at 8am. Prizes (gift cards) will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in high school. FALL ONLINE HEALTH CLASS
If you are in need of completing your high school health credit, the Fall 2 session of online Health begins October 24. If you would like to be enrolled in this class, you must fill out the form at this link by Friday October 14 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dEJZNUFJWENFaTBlYW83cHBnNzdxcmc6MQ. You will be charged an extra $350 on your tuition bill for this class if it will be your 9th class of 2016-2017. The class is free if you have an early dismissal, late arrival or study hall in your schedule. If you took Health in 8th grade at Faith or have taken Health at Las Vegas Day School, Adelson or The Meadows in 8th grade, your high school Health requirement is already complete. A free interactive exhibit where guests can encounter 3 other cultures without leaving theirs. We are looking for various positions/days/times for people to serve so guests can learn more about life in Cambodia, Dominican Republic and Liberia.

Attention 8th-11th graders! Would you like to visit the amazing Inca ruins of Machu Picchu? Sail to an island on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake? Explore Lima, the historic capital of Peru? Or walk the streets of Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Incas? Then join Ms. Gieseke and Mr. Crowder on a trip to Peru during spring break 2018 (March 29-April 7, 2018). We know it is a long way off, but start thinking about it NOW. The first informational meeting is Thursday, September 15th, at 6:30 p.m. in the library. If you have any questions or need further information, please talk to or email Ms. Gieseke or Mr. Crowder. In Philippians 4:6, God calls us to pray to Him about anything and everything in all situations. A new prayer group is starting up to do just that. The group will meet twice a week on Mondays and Fridays in room 112 at 7am, and the sole purpose of the group will be to pray for this school and those in it, this city, this country, and this world. If you are in need of prayer, whether you are a faculty member or a student, you are welcome to come on Monday mornings starting on September 12 and the members of the group will pray for you in person. If you want to request prayer, but not in person, you can send emails to request@flhsemail.org. October 19 will be a minimum day and all students in grades 6-11 will be taking standardized tests on campus. All seniors have the day off that day. 6th and 7th graders will be taking the ACT Aspire Exam, which is a pre-ACT written specifically for each grade level, and they will be excused at approximately 2:00PM. Students in grades 8-11 will be taking the PSAT written specifically for their grade level. Juniors taking the PSAT are eligible for a National Merit Scholar designation if they score in the top 2% nationally on the exam. All other grade levels of that exam are simply practice for the junior year. 8th graders will be excused at approximately 11:45AM and 9th-11th grade will be excused at approximately 11:15AM. Please use the normal after school designated pick-up areas. Students should get a good night's sleep the night before, have a good breakfast that morning and come prepared with #2 pencils, a 4-function calculator, water and a healthy snack to eat during the break. In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate SAT course on campus, which includes 30 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on Dec. 3 and runs mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 PM through Nov. 30 leading up to the December 3 SAT. Attention ALL Middle School Boys & Girls Basketball Players and Parents:
There will be a short informational meeting on Wednesday October 12 at 6 p.m. in the Library for all parents of prospective MS Basketball Players. The meeting will cover Register My Athlete, Comments from Athletic Director Cy Frederick on Try-outs and Policy, and Season Notes. This is important meeting for all parents to attend. We offer 7/8 A, B, and C teams and 6th grade A and B teams.

FALL FESTIVAL MIDDLE SCHOOL BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY!!!!!!
Join us for our Faith Lutheran Fall Festival for FLMS students and their families on Friday, October 7 from 5-7pm. This event is put on by our MS STUCO and will have carnival games, food, photo booths, dunking for apples, face painting and BIG PRIZES! Generous Hearts

God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you (v.10).
I opened a letter from our mortgage lender and, instead of a bill, found a check! Our escrow account had accrued a surplus, and the bank had sent us a check for the amount. The previous month had been overly busy, and I had been unable to take on any freelance work during those weeks. But we strived to remain faithful in our giving, and now God had provided. I was holding a check with a value that exceeded what we had lost due to my inability to work more hours.
Discussing finances and giving can be difficult. Jesus told us to not “let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3), something that can mistakenly be taken to mean that financial discussions are taboo for the church. While it’s wise to discuss personal money issues at the right time and with trusted people, this doesn’t preclude our need for biblical teaching and correction for our financial practices. Consider how the apostle Paul reminded his readers that generosity is a condition of the heart before it ever reaches the wallet (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Truly generous people don’t give to gain position or recognition. Neither do they give because they’re attempting to meet the expectations of others (v.7). Instead, realizing that generosity is love revealed, they give as a reflection of the very heart of God. Scripture reveals that God blesses those who are generous (Proverbs 11:25)—those who give with the right heart (Malachi 1:7-8).
God has generously poured out His eternal riches on us. May we give back to Him out of love and share in different ways with others with grateful, joy-filled hearts. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully” (2 Corinthians 9:7). —Regina Franklin
